Pristyn Care: Revolutionizing Indian Healthcare for All Through Equitable Surgical Solutions

In the realm of Indian healthcare, stark disparities persist, leaving a gap for middle-income individuals seeking comprehensive services. Pristyn Care, established in 2018, emerges as a transformative force aiming to democratize surgical healthcare across the nation.

The healthtech startup, now a unicorn with a valuation of $1.4 billion after a successful Series E round, specializes in streamlining the entire healthcare journey for surgical patients. From identifying the right doctors to managing insurance paperwork, transportation, and post-surgery consultations, Pristyn Care ensures a seamless experience.

Pristyn Care's founders, medical doctors Garima Sawhney, Vaibhav Kapoor, and entrepreneur Harsimarbir Singh, identified significant hurdles in the surgical journeys of lower and middle-income patients. This realization led to the creation of Pristyn Care, which now operates in 40+ Indian cities, covering over 50 diseases through a network of 700+ hospitals and 150 clinics.

The startup's holistic healthcare model not only addresses patient challenges but also empowers small and medium hospitals. Pristyn Care collaborates with hospitals, providing them with state-of-the-art medical equipment and conducting nurse training programs. The aim is to enhance hospital capabilities, reduce patient costs, and ensure quality healthcare.

Dr. Kapoor emphasizes Pristyn Care's commitment to transparency, guiding patients from consultation to diagnostics, surgery, and post-discharge care. The startup has garnered support from investors, raising $177 million to date and projecting a revenue of INR 1,000 crore in FY24.

Despite early challenges in convincing doctors and hospitals to join their cause, Pristyn Care now boasts a network of 400+ skilled surgeons and collaborates with insurance companies, reflecting its growing influence in the healthcare sector.

However, the startup faced setbacks with reports of medical negligence and unnecessary procedures. In response, Pristyn Care implemented rigorous evaluation processes, SOPs, and internal guidelines to ensure patient safety and compliance.

Looking ahead, Pristyn Care plans to invest INR 100 crore in Bangladesh, expand its geographical footprint, and venture into medical tourism. Despite ambitious targets, the founders remain committed to bridging the healthcare gap in smaller cities and towns, striving to provide affordable and equitable healthcare for all.
