Skiff offers an end-to-end encrypted email service and collaboration platform, aligning with the growing awareness of data protection and privacy in India. The startup expects India to become one of its largest revenue contributors in the coming years.
Skiff, founded by Stanford graduates Andrew Milich and Jason Ginsberg in 2020, introduced its first product, Pages, in 2021, followed by Mail, Calendar, and Drive, all offering end-to-end encryption. Skiff's unique approach ensures that users do not need to share any personal information when signing up for its products. The company emphasizes user privacy and data security, differentiating it from tech giants like Alphabet, which have faced scrutiny for data handling practices.
Skiff also offers Web3 integration, decentralizing data storage and providing users with more control and ownership of their data. It has wallet integrations with MetaMask and Brave Wallet, allowing users to maintain privacy while using cryptocurrency for payments.
Recognizing the significant user traffic from India and Europe, Skiff strategically decided to develop Android and Windows apps to cater to this audience. These apps underwent specific adaptations to enhance the user experience for Indian users, including improved load times and offline support. Skiff is investing around $500,000 in its India launch over the next six months, including marketing campaigns and support for major Indian languages.
Skiff aims to add at least five million users, with a substantial portion from India, over the next two to three years. With its focus on privacy and user data protection, the startup is well-poised to capitalize on the increasing demand for secure digital services in India. It has raised $23 million in funding and plans to further develop its product offerings while maintaining a low cost of operations. As it grows, Skiff intends to expand into the business segment, making it a prominent player in the privacy-centric workspace and collaboration space, with India playing a pivotal role in its journey.
