Founder and CEO Sehaj Kohli believes that while AI can handle general translations, it often lacks the context needed for precise localization across various demographics, regions, domains, and content lengths.

Established in 2021 with an initial investment of Rs 20,000, Kalakrit stands as a multilingual communications provider offering a range of services, including translation, transcription, voice-over, dubbing, subtitles, and interpretation. Kohli's vision was to create a company that prioritizes flexibility and client-centric approaches over conventional translation methods.

Kalakrit specializes in marketing localization, BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance), and sworn translations. It also offers voiceovers in multiple Indian languages. The startup's key differentiator is its unwavering commitment to using native linguists and artists for its services, refraining from automated or AI-driven translation tools.

The company has successfully executed over 350 projects across 150 languages, boasting 98-99% accuracy in its solutions. Quality control remains a challenge in the industry, and Kalakrit's human-centric approach aims to address this issue effectively.

Localization lies at the heart of Kalakrit's services, encompassing not just translation but also adapting content to align with cultural norms, customs, and linguistic nuances. The startup helps businesses enter new markets, connect with diverse audiences, and resonate culturally and linguistically.

Kalakrit employs project-based and fee-per-word pricing models, catering primarily to businesses, marketing agencies, PR agencies, production houses, and publications. With its revenue projections set at Rs 1.5 crore by the end of 2023, the startup aims to onboard approximately 120 brands this year.

While the language services market is growing rapidly, with a projected value of $70.32 billion by 2024, Kalakrit is mindful of AI's increasing role in the industry. Although it currently relies on human linguists, the startup is exploring AI-enabled project management solutions to enhance efficiency while maintaining the precision of human localization.
