At the age of 27, Anuruddh Mishra received a diagnosis that shook his world - rheumatoid arthritis. Initially, this debilitating condition left him unable to walk. However, further tests revealed that his pain was primarily due to low Vitamin D and high uric acid levels. Fueled by his own experience and a desire to help others facing similar challenges, Mishra co-founded Get Beyond Health in August 2022, along with Anand Rao, an entrepreneur and venture capitalist. This Bengaluru-based healthcare tech startup is on a mission to provide personalized health cards to individuals, with an emphasis on prevention as the first line of defense against future diseases.

Mishra, an alumnus of IIT Varanasi, quickly recognized that many conventional medical tests used to assess health, such as lipid profile tests for cholesterol levels, may not be entirely accurate for the Indian population. These tests are often based on data from non-Indian individuals, leading to potential inaccuracies in diagnosis. To address this issue, Get Beyond Health embarked on a mission to collect extensive medical and healthcare data from various sources, with the goal of creating a more precise assessment of an individual's health.

The startup's approach involved gathering diverse data points, including blood biomarkers and biological age, to generate personalized health scorecards for users. To achieve this, they developed sophisticated algorithms and employed large language models (LLMs) to process the data and provide a more accurate health profile. Mishra noted that while individuals often turn to Google for health information, the context is often lacking. Get Beyond Health aimed to bridge this gap by offering context-rich health information.

Here's how it works: Users upload their laboratory reports to the platform, which then generates a comprehensive health scorecard based on factors like age, family history, lifestyle, and medical conditions. Following this assessment, personalized consultations and recommendations are provided. For example, the platform might identify stress as a significant factor in erratic eating habits and connect the user with relevant health professionals, such as nutritionists or doctors, for further guidance.

One of Get Beyond Health's unique selling points is its fully automated health scorecard, which allows users to input queries, blood reports, or even images and receive rapid responses from their LLM model. This enables users to interact with their health data in a meaningful way and gain valuable context. Mishra emphasized that all recommendations provided by the startup are rooted in scientific research, and the team includes both technologists and medical professionals.

After initial testing with cohorts like biohackers and fitness enthusiasts, Get Beyond Health's health test is now available commercially through its August platform. The startup's goal is to onboard numerous organizations onto this platform, aiming for 10,000 users and over 200,000 queries. While it doesn't fit neatly into a specific market segment, the startup connects with various players in the healthcare industry, aligning with the India Brand Equity Foundation's projection of a $10.6 billion e-health market in India by 2025.

Mishra stressed that Get Beyond Health's core ethos revolves around prevention through behavior, exercise, nutrition, and supplements, emphasizing the importance of proactive health management over simply providing a cure.
